Fledglings & Chicks
The Fledglings are children aged approxiamtely 2 years to 3 1/2 years and the Chicks from 3 1/2 to 5 years.
The Fledglings have one large playroom, which can be separated by folding doors to create two small groups of children, or provide a quiet area for rest/sleep. Both areas have direct access to toilets and a changing room. There is also direct access to the garden.
In the Fledglings the daily routine includes a mixture of structured and free play, craft and messy play, circle time (stories & singing), along with time in the outside play area. These ensure that the children are exposed to all the areas of learning and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance. The emphasis, though, remains with each child's individual needs within a fun and caring environment, with the emphasis on learning through play.
The Chicks have their own dedicated pre school room with direct access to th e garden.
Through the thoughtfully planned curriculum around the Early Learning Goals, the children will be stimulated into wanting to learn and thus become well prepared in all the basic skills. The children will be exposed to activities through structured and free play which is balanced with quieter periods of the day such as story time and small group table top activities.
We will be developing close links with local schools to ensure your child makes the transition into Reception confidently and happily.
