Chicks
for children aged from 3 years to 5 years
The Chicks room is led by our Early Years Teacher, Rebecca.
Children who have had the opportunity of a good a pre-school education often settle into primary school well and find the curriculum in primary school a continuation of what they have learnt in pre-school. Our pre-school room is designed to provide a fun, welcoming and stimulating environment which supports children’s learning and development before they move onto school.

Within the room the children are able to enjoy our many well resourced areas. They can choose to be creative with activities like painting, drawing and sticking, they are able to be imaginative in our home corner with role play toys and writing opportunities. They can also experience problem solving, mathematics and natural experiences.. The children have free access to a computer with a variety of educational programmes.
The children enjoy plenty of time in our garden, visit the mobile library and go on local walks.
The Chicks also benefit from structured phonics lessons following the Read, Write Inc. programme, numeracy lessons following the Maths Makes Sense programme and weekly French lessons.
We have developed close links with local schools to ensure your child makes the transition into Reception confidently and happily.
